Understanding Audit Logs

Review a detailed record of all actions taken within your organization.

What Gets Tracked

SteepleOS logs every significant action performed by staff members, including:

  • User management: Inviting, removing, or changing roles for staff accounts.
  • Data changes: Creating, updating, or deleting people records, households, and groups.
  • Financial actions: Processing refunds, modifying giving settings, generating statements.
  • Settings changes: Updating organization settings, integrations, or security policies.
  • Communications: Sending broadcasts, scheduling messages, and template modifications.

Viewing Audit Logs

  1. Navigate to Admin > Audit Logs.
  2. Each entry shows the timestamp, the user who performed the action, the action type, and the affected resource.
  3. Click on any entry to see full details, including before/after values for data changes.

Filtering & Search

  • Filter by action type (create, update, delete) to find specific kinds of changes.
  • Filter by user to see everything a particular staff member has done.
  • Filter by date range to investigate activity during a specific period.
  • Use the search bar to find actions related to a specific person or resource by name.

Retention

Audit logs are retained for the duration of your subscription. Enterprise plans include extended log retention and the ability to export logs as CSV for external archival.
