How Text-to-Give Works
Members send a text message to your church's dedicated giving number with an amount (e.g., "50") and SteepleOS processes the donation through their saved payment method.
Setting Up Text-to-Give
- Ensure Twilio SMS is configured under Settings > SMS (see the SMS with Twilio article).
- Go to Giving > Text-to-Give Settings and enable the feature.
- Your Twilio phone number becomes your giving number. Display it prominently during services.
Fund Keywords
Set up keywords so members can direct their gift to a specific fund:
- "TITHE 100" donates $100 to the General Tithe fund.
- "BUILDING 50" donates $50 to the Building Fund.
- Configure keywords under Giving > Text-to-Give Settings > Fund Keywords.
First-Time Givers
When someone texts to give for the first time, SteepleOS replies with a secure link to register their payment method. After the one-time setup, all future text gifts are processed instantly.
Receipts & Confirmation
After each successful text gift, the donor receives an SMS confirmation with the amount and fund. A full email receipt follows within minutes for their records.
